Investigations done by independent team of Rushyashya journalists in Rusizi district following the shooting of three people on Friday earlier reported that they had ties with extremists linked to the Somalia-based group al-Shabab, indicate that the suspects are simple robbers who have been stealing house properties in the area for months.
According to several leaders and ordinary citizens in Rusizi district interviewed by this newspaper, the reports earlier circulated in the media that the suspects were extremists linked to the Somalia-based group al-Shabab as untrue since area people know them as ordinary robbers who have been reported to police in the past.
There have been reports in the past circulating in the media saying that there is presence of extremists like members of Islamic State but investigations and reports from informed sources on ground indicate such information is untrue.
Rwanda, according to many Rwandans and visitors coming to this country believe without any doubt that the country still enjoys peace and security as indicated in the recent hosting of African Union meeting which ended peaceful.
